We have spent little time out on the streets of Cartagena at night. Last evening, we sailed out to watch the sunset from the bay. Many of the photos you see here are of Bocagrande. This is a nearby neighborhood of high rises and second home apartments for Bogata natives who visit throughout the year. It was grand to see it from the water.

We were on a sloop built in Rhode Island in 2003. Some of the sailors were more adventurous than others.

We made the turn back to port at dusk, as the dark deepened and the lights appeared.

As we approached the dock, we saw Old Town, where we live, from the water…a beautiful sight.

The old town is almost always the most appealing. I wonder if there is any city where it isn’t?
And in walled towns like Cartagena a cultural line of demarcation happens along with the physical wall.
As always, I’m enjoying the photo blog of your adventures. I am a bit confused, however. I used to be able to write a comment and hit submit. Now it asks me to create an account using WordPress. Is that correct? Do I need to set up an account? This is what I wrote but I don’t see any of my past comments: Keep them coming. Love Maryl

By logging in you’ll post the following comment to After Sunset: As always, stunning photos. Glad you decided to take the evening cruise and share the experience. The contrast between the Miami-like vibe and the old town vibe is quite dramatic. BTW…when I first opened your email none of the photos appeared. So, I hit “view on Blog” and, voila, all 11 appeared.

Maryl, I hope you can see this. I should be more tech savvy about our own site. But alas, much of it is a mystery to me. Can you login again? Anywhere to do that? I have seen other of your blog posts and replied. Did you see my replies. Clearly I should be more competent about all of this. You can type in jillanddanaadventure.com in your address bar and bookmark it.
Whatever happened I am so pleased you saw all 11 photos. I think some of the last ones were Dana’s best.
HI there, so beautiful seeing this perspective. I wasn’t picturing so many high rises! It’s always good to hear from you and share your adventures. We just had a quick little snow and its already melted but nice to get the moisture.
Safe travels home! xo Leah
The high rises are quite a contrast to Old Town (Centro) where we are living and spend our time. Another side of Cartagena…more like Miami Beach. I am not sure you (and everyone) who sees this post from the emails that are sent out saw all of the photos. There should be eleven. If you don’t see them all, login again entering jillanddanaadventure.com and you will see the correct post. Wouldn’t want you to miss any of Dana’s photos.
