Our mocha lattes
On our excusions we like to take a mid-morning break. Lately we have become quite fond of mocha lattes aka mochaccinos. They are a mixture of hot coffee, chocolate and steamed milk. We availed ourselves of these while on the architecture tour that follows.
The photos come from three different locations. Groot Constantia is the oldest vineyard in South Africa dating to the 1600s. It still produces wine though is now a non-profit.
The second was taken in Stellenbosch, a small university town north of Cape Town. We heard mostly Afrikaans spoken while we were there. It is one of the wine regions of Cape Town. The Cape Dutch architecture is throughout the town complete with little canals that run along next to the brick sidewalks.
The third was a seaside cottage along the False Bay coast in St. James. The house belonged to Cecil Rhodes, most widely known in the U.S. as founder of the Rhodes Scholarship. Here in South Africa he is a combination of Teddy Roosevelt and Andrew Carnegie.
