Goodbye Santa Fe, Hello Santa Barbara

Santa Fe is called, “The City Different” as is clear from this Christmas window of Todos Santos, a downtown Santa Fe chocolateer.  We came upon the window on Christmas Eve as we walked the streets saying “goodbye” to the place we love for three months in Santa Barbara, California.

This is not so much a going away from, as who could resist a place that celebrates Christmas with skulls, feathers, tiny disco balls, money bags and paper flowers, but a going to.  We are going to the Pacific Ocean, the camellias, the bougainvillea, and big green banyan trees.

Santa Barbara is our final Mediterranean climate, the fifth stop in visiting the five primary Mediterranean climate areas of the world. Unlike the others, Santa Barbara is an old friend as we lived here for twelve years before we moved to Santa Fe. Santa Barbara inspired the original curiosity that led us on our infinitesimal year-long adventure.

Join us as we explore this magical place by the sea, so different from the open skies, plains and mountains of home.
