I want to be fluent in Spanish. To accomplish my goal, I have taken classes in Spanish in Santa Fe, Valparaiso and Santa Barbara. These are mis amigos from my Santa Barbara City College Conversational Spanish class, Regina, Rufus and John. We sat together and laughed a lot. Bonnie Blakely, our incomparable profesora, was full of great good humor as she led us on the very long path to fluency.
Next is my visit to Cuzco, Peru in June with my Santa Fe Community College compañeros. I will be living with a Spanish family, taking conversational Spanish and studying the past tense. (I only know present tense now…makes me seem very immediate and a little strange.)
They say learning a language stimulates brain cells and keeps you sharper. One can only hope. Thank you Regina, Rufus and John for the learning and the fun. Hasta que nos encontramos otra vez.
