We came upon this early morning delivery outside of a Sortino meat market. These are half sides of pork that are carried by very burly delivery men across the sidewalk into the market dripping blood on the way. As you can see the truck is a standard size but the streets are Sicilian standard and considerably smaller.
Every delivery snarls up the street leading to many blown horns. Sicilians love to blow their horns at the slightest provocation or sometimes for no reason at all. In this case the delivery is quite a long process that involves extensive conversation between the butcher and the delivery driver.
Other times the beef may be on the hoof. We came upon this herd of cows while navigating a road with many hairpin turns in the mountains. The cows were unimpressed with our SmartCar and ambled on by at a local pace. Each had a bell and this traffic noise was quite magical.
