Adelaide is, as the Aussies say, brilliant. For us it is roses in the lanes, gardens and vineyards, rhododendrons in the gully, pachysandra and flame tree on the streets. And all set against a brilliant blue sky. It is black and white cockatoos and green parrots, lorikeets, zebra finches and kookaburras laughing wildly in the early morning light. It is kangaroos and koalas, penguins and sea lions and a shy echidna showing us his nose.
We have traveled the hills and valleys of this beautiful jewel of a little city and its surrounds, gone to the beaches, the summits, the vales and the island to see the land that is down under.
We have met the friendliest, out-going, positive people of a law-abiding culture that is a wonderful example for the rest of the world. We have made friends and we hope they come to visit us in Santa Fe so we can return some small part of the generous hospitality they have shown us.
Now on to Valparaiso, Chile and the last leg of our year-long odyssey.
Thank you dear readers for staying with us. See you in Chile.
Speaking of boring. I just saw Julian Assange’s post (lots of bad language there) about Adelaide. His mother was a speaker there earlier this year defending her son. He wrote it’s for old and boring people who are 20 years behind the times. What does he know!
Hello Jill & Dana, I was delighted to meet you both at The North Lodge, Botanical Gardens Adelaide, and have enjoyed immensely reading the blogs of your travels. Continue to have a wonderful time, and I look forward to reading more.
Merry Christmas! I’ve been reading along but haven’t chimed in lately – cant wait to hear about chile. MY experience was that they were so surprised & grateful i chose to vacation there as its not a hot spot. Safe travels!!
What does it mean that we both chose this as a place to go? j
You have been delightful guests. More importantly, two people whose presence, conversations, and friendship have enriched our lives. Thank you Jill and Dana.
Paul and Jill: You have a made our visit in Adelaide so special. Now you have to come and see us in Santa Fe to have the Western U.S. experience. Happy New Year. Cheers, Jill and Dana
Have a great trip! You’re two thirds done. Do you miss home?
Yes. We miss home and everyone there A LOT.
I am surprised with all the fun you have. You may be really really bored when you return.
I received the bottle of lavender oil yesterday and I LOVE it. Thank you so much. I am addicted.
I am so pleased it made it. Eldorado is many things but boring is not one of them…eh?
