Brain Report 3

I graduated from Escuela Mexicana.

My knowledge and understanding of Spanish has increased geometrically. Each day builds on the day before. My professors say learning is “poco a poco,” little by little. I hear a word. I see a word. I hear it again. And in time, it becomes part of my vocabulary.

Not once in the time I have been in Guanajuato has a Spanish speaker shown impatience or superiority when I struggle to speak their language. If anything, they become more patient, coaxing me to the words I am trying to form. Thank you to every one of them for their generosity.

I know that I am lucky to have the opportunity to have been immersed in the language and culture I want to know. There is no better way to learn another language.

Me hace “enferma de la casa” (como se dice “homesick?”) por Guanajuato! Saludos a todos en Escuela Mexicana. Ahora, estoy aprendiendo Italiano, por que vamos a Sicilia en Mayo…Ojala que podamos reuinirnos en Santa Fe este verano!

Congratulations! Your are a woman of perseverance. Most people give up when things get hard! When are you coming back? The garden is about to start, lots of new people are not just involved but also running it.

Ahhh si, Mama! Esta muy bien, excellente!! yeeeeehhhhaaa!! Como se dice en Fanta Se en Espanol, way cool!! Esta el mismo aqi, los contractores Mexicanos cerca aqi no perden patiencia con mi gili gringo espanol, se gustan (??) Muy suave!!!
