We went to The New Cathedral on a Sunday morning when the people of Cuenca would be there for mass.
The second largest cathedral in South America was abundant with parishioners. Pews were filled aisle to aisle. And unlike Catholic churches in other countries we have visited there were far more young than old.
Ecuadorean folk songs filled the towering barrel vault during mass as traditional hymns became lilting musical prayers.

Great to see you and the resumption of MedFlies. Looking forward to your adventure and to tagging along😘
Though my Webflies’ editing of the Cuenca and Guanajuato posts was noticed by many who follow us, we are pleased to announce our next trip to Cartagena, Colombia next January through March 2024. Astonishingly we are aging and making accomodations for our evolving physical realities. Cartagena is the launch of our new way of being on the road. Onward & Upward.
Onward and Upward, literally. Our apartment is in a “vintage” hotel with an elevator.
So happy to see your travel post and assume that you’re both well and happy. Travel ON!!
Jay

Off on a new adventure, I see. look forward to your stories.

Hi Jeannette, Not trying to fool you but I just logged into Medflies after a long hiatus and found some programming problems that I am trying to fix i.e. an old Cuenca article. But the real news is we’re going to Cartagena, Colombia January 16 to March 13, 2024. Keep an eye out. There will be an announcement soon. Cheers, Jill
Thanks for your up date. I was surprised that you might be going out right now compared to last trips.
Have a great summer, Jeannette
