Siracusa, Sicily

17 Apr

Fossilized seashell found on cliff above Ionian Sea.

I am writing for the first time from Sicily where we are staying in the city of Siracusa for the next three months. Dana and I want to write and send photos of our life here more than the sites we go to see.

Yesterday we were grocery shopping and wanted to show you the pasta aisle in Sidis the local supermarket. Pasta Video is HERE.

Sicilians return home every day between 1 and 4 P.M. to have lunch and rest. Lunch is usually pasta or homemade pizza or both. There are pizzerias everywhere…little shops that sell pizza by the slice and wrap it nicely for you to take home to eat.  You do not see Sicilians, even younger people, eating on the street, ever.

Wow! Can’t believe all that pasta! We miss you at the garden, but your blog will be a great topic of conversation. Nothing like a good vicarious adventure!

Glad to see you are well. I was afraid that Mt Etna was going to get you!

So good to hear from you! I was just thinking of you yesterday and wondering how you are. What a great way to share your trip with all on your list. Everything seems to work. But the video appears in the comment also, maybe it’s supposed to. We miss you too!
