Go for the Gold

9 Sep

We are holding a random drawing selected from the blog followers who will post comments in the next two weeks. Every new comment is a chance to win this striking apron featuring a silk screen of Mandela’s Gold, the specially named Bird of Paradise native to South Africa.

The Mandela Apron

The contest will run from today,September 9, to  Sunday, September 23 at 8 a.m. Cape Town time (around midnight in the U.S.A.) Then the random drawing will be held and announced here.

Each time you make a new comment during these two weeks, one chance is added to the drawing. So the more you comment, the greater your chance of winning. You can comment on any post new or older, whatever strikes your fancy.

Two things can enhance your chances of winning. Follow the blog by email (link in the sidebar on the right of your screen) and comment on any new or past post.

Make sure you enter as many times as possible.

Best of luck in winning this colorful apron!

Note: More about Mandela’s Gold.

Mandela’s Gold

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden developed a new variety of Bird of Paradise flower.  The plant breeding for the new variety took a number of years. In 1994 when Nelson Mandela was elected President of South Africa, the garden named the flower after him. So you will show a little piece of South African history every time you wear the apron. And you can tell this story.

Can hardly resist the challenge! But also, so glad you got to robben island. I visited in 2008 and it has stayed with me ever since. If you have a chance visit the district 9 (or is it 6?) museum…. Very powerful as well

Didn’t know you had visited it here. It is District 6 and we did go…very moving. Our Masiphumalele visit was also eye opening.

I set up an RSS Feed which apparently crashed or disappeared (oh, the mysteries of technology). Anyway, I was wondering why I hadn’t received any recent postings from you. Love the apron but should probably take myself out of the running for the gold since I won the previous apron. In any event, I enjoy following the blog and will continue to post. Love you guys!

We wondered where you were. We missed your comments. Of course you are still in the race for the Mandela apron. Whoever blogs the most wins. J

You guys are cute! I don’t cook so no use for apron! But still been meaning to comment cuz your blogs are great! Now that I think of it could have used the apron yesterday when peeling and freezing green chilis! Thanks for the fun contest and keep blogging! I love your adventures!

The apron gives a whole new meaning to the cliche “for the birds”………as do those rugged rocks up the hills to “getting stoned”………
MIchael Tellinger, fellow I mentioned from South Africa who is the publicizer of those zillions of ancient stone circles will be presenting at the same October conference in Indiana(!) http://www.pythagorusconferenceglobal.com as I will. Click on Featured Speakers. I get to do my gig right from here in my office by Skype, live, although apparently he is into coming all the way to……..Indiana…….
Mary’s notion about auctioning off Dana is intriguing………ehehehe……..
