Through a highly competitive process our Grand Prize Winner was painstakingly chosen. (We numbered our blog posters in chronological order and Dana picked a random number with his eyes closed.)

And so dear readers this is the last contest for Medflies. We will still be posting until we step on the plane in Santiago, but our days are now numbered, as you can see from our calendar counter.
We have been meeting people from all over the world here; Austria, Poland, Norway, Australia, Canada, France, Peru, and Argentina. A young Irish couple came back to our apartment with us yesterday. They came to see the view and the art hanging on our walls. (I think I mentioned that all of the apartments here are like little galleries with original art hanging on our walls.) They were delightful.
We are amazed at the number of young people we meet, especially young women, who travel alone. They are truly world travelers with stories of the many countries they have visited. And they are still in their twenties.
Many save up vacation for a four-week jaunt. Others work and save their money then travel a number of countries, or just one place, for six months or a year. We met an American yesterday who intended to visit Valparaiso for one day and stayed to found his own thriving business and adopt Valparaiso as his home. Their enthusiasm and sense of wonder is infectious.
We hope we have passed on some of that to you in our Medflies contests so that you can have a little piece of wonder from our adventure.
